Listen To This Pitch
A group of women from the Women’s Senior Softball League in Clearwater, Florida formed the not-for-profit Florida Women’s Half-Century Softball League, Inc. (FWHCSL) for the purpose offering low cost tournaments to full and part-time Florida residents for “MORE FUN – LESS MONEY”
If you are turning 40 in the calendar year of the tournament, you are eligible to play. In other words, if the tournament is in April and you turn age 40 in June, you are eligible to play in the April tournament.
At this time, all players are pooled based upon the information the player provides on the individual registration forms. We ask you to provide your favorite field positions and your level of skill. Positions are not guaranteed, but we do our best to accommodate all players. Our goal is to provide teams that are balanced by position, ability and age to provide fun and interesting tournaments for all. All skill levels are welcomed.
The registration fee is usually $32.00 per player per tournament. Where can you go and play ball for that amount?
How Registration Fees are Used
The Board was approached and asked to explain how the tournament registration fees are used. For 2023-2024, the registration is $32.00* per person per tournament. The Florida Women’s Half Century Softball League, Inc. (FWHCSL) is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of Florida and is registered with the Florida Department of State, Division of Corporation. FWHCSL is not a profit-driven corporation and does not have shareholders.
Tournaments are an expensive and time-consuming undertaking. Many tournament expenses must be paid in advance, including but not limited to:
- Rental of softball fields
- Insurance
- Umpires
- Softball
- A variety of snacks, fruit, drinks, water
- First aid kits
- Laundry
FWHCSL has also purchased shirts for eight (8) teams, with logos and numbers. In addition, FWHCSL also incurs the normal business expenses, including but not limited to paper, ink, website, state registration fees, and the occasional payment for CPA and legal services. Any remaining funds after payment of expenses are held for future tournaments and for the promotion of senior women’s softball at an affordable cost to the players.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please submit them to the Board in writing.
If you are interested, have questions, or want to be on our email list for future tournaments, please contact one of our board members.
